The man accused of striking a U.S. Forest Service Officer with his vehicle last month on Highway 36 has been identified.

Detectives with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office are in the process of requesting a warrant for the arrest of 22-year-old Eureka resident Silverio Sanchez. Authorities say Sanchez used his vehicle to strike a U.S. Forest Service Officer on March 15th after that officer attempted to speak with Sanchez in the River Ranger District of Highway 36. During a vehicle pursuit, police say Sanchez got out of his vehicle and disappeared into the brush next to Highway 36. Sanchez already has outstanding felony warrants for charges that include rape, kidnapping and battery.

If you have any information regarding his whereabouts, you’re asked to call the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at (707) 445-7251.
