Tax measure to fund fire services facing Kneeland residents
Kneeland- Residents in Kneeland will be asked to approve a supplemental tax measure that will go toward funding services for their volunteer fire department on Tuesday.
Measure L would tax residents $80 per year for each improved parcel to fund increased costs and update equipment. $60 would be charged for unimproved parcels with the district's board able to approve a 1% maximum increase every year.
Opponents of the measure said the fire department has not had an increase in revenue for 23 years and said services could be reduced if the tax isn't approved.
