HUMBOLDT COUNTY- There’s plenty of fun events for everyone to enjoy on Thanksgiving in Humboldt County.
On Thursday morning in Eureka, people are invited to get in their Thanksgiving Day exercise at the Jogg’N Shoppe Turkey Trot Run in Memory of Forrest Williams. Registration is at 211 F Street. The 5k run starts and finishes in Old Town and begins at 9 a.m.
In Arcata, people can make room for their Thanksgiving meals in the Thanksgiving Day Walk. The lap around the Arcata Marsh will focus on history, ecology and birds. Walkers should meet at the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary Interpretive at 10 a.m., located at 600 South G Street.
Also in Arcata, local, healthy foods will be offered to those in need at the second annual Arcata Community Thanksgiving Dinner. The free event will be held at the Arcata Community Center, located at 321 Community Park Way. The dinner will be held from noon until 3 p.m.
On Thursday morning, local fishermen will be blessed with positive energy at the 19th annual Thanksgiving Day Blessing of the Fleet in Trinidad. After a traditional native blessing to the four directions, there will be a non-denominational blessing from Pastor Wallace Anderson of the Church of the Joyful Healer. The event begins at 10 A.M. and will be held at the Trinidad Memorial Lighthouse, located on the corner of Trinity Street and Edwards Street.
In Crescent City, the annual Del Norte Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be held at the Fairgrounds Community Center. Organizers expect to serve around 700 meals and will be held from noon until 2 p.m.
