Thieves take off with Moose Lodge's safe full of holiday funds
Authorities are looking for a man who allegedly stole a safe full of holiday funds from the Moose Lodge on Sutter Road in McKinleyville Sunday morning.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office said they received a report of a suspicious man pushing a shopping cart that had a metal box in it around 5 a.m. Witnesses told deputies that the suspect signaled a car with a flashlight to stop. He then loaded the box in the light blue four door sedan and then took off.
Deputies went out and checked businesses in the area for signs of forced entry and found the Moose Lodge’s door was open. Upon investigating, it was determined that a safe was taken from the business that contained money. A representative with the lodge said the money was for food and gifts for the holidays.
The suspect is still at large and is said to be wearing a hooded sweatshirt, construction boots, yellow and black gloves with a noticeable limp.
Should the Humboldt County Correctional Facility provide more re-entry fairs for prisoners?
