College of the Redwoods freshman Colten Ross took fourth in the pole vault (14-feet. 4-inches) and Nick Moran finished 10th overall in the long jump (6.6 meters) at the NorCal Trials at De Anza College in Cupertino on Friday.
Both athletes finished in the top 12 of their events and qualified for the NorCal Finals at the same location next weekend, joining fellow teammate Kevin McTague, who qualified for the finals at last week’s GVC championships in the 3,000m steeplechase.
The three remaining Corsairs are just one step away from the state championships.
“We wanted to do a little better as a team today but it was still definitely a step forward for the program,” said CR head coach Reed Elmore. “Everyone gave it their all, we got the experience and we’re developing.”
The NorCal Finals will be held at the same location next Saturday.
