Trinidad Council working with community to craft city's goals
TRINIDAD- Residents are helping determine Trinidad's new short and long term goals.
At a special meeting recently, the Council collected community members’ ideas and received more than 100 proposals. Now, city staff will work to narrow that list down. Officials say they are already working on some of the ideas and planning to incorporate others into the upcoming budget. Among those proposals are limiting the number of vacation rentals, preparing for sea level rise, adding more historic street lights and improving existing trails.
"This is a really important process because the people who live there and our neighbors in the outlying areas have a lot of investment in Trinidad. They built the library, they built the museum, they built the beaches and so this is a way for them to have something to say about what the community will look like and feel like in the future,"said Julie Fulkerson, the Mayor of Trinidad.
