Two 'armed and dangerous' suspects wanted for home invasion robbery

SOUTHEAST HUMBOLDT- Two suspects considered armed and dangerous are on the loose, wanted for an attempted home invasion robbery in Southeast Humboldt County.

Just after midnight 34 year old Seth Robert Morton Sr. allegedly entered his mother's home on the 2700 block of South Face Road, in an area known as Island Mountain located East of Garberville. There he attempted to assault his step father. Two suspects entered the home and one pepper sprayed the victims. The male victim then chased the suspects with a baseball bat. One suspect fired a gun towards the home and all three fled in a white late 80's SUV.

A local citizen aware of what was happening attempted to block the roadway by parking his vehicle in the middle of the roadway. The suspect's vehicle crashed into the unoccupied vehicle.

Around 9 this morning one suspect identified as 34 year old Bret Lawrence Swortzel was located hiding in brush near the New Harris Store and was arrested. The sheriff's office, the California Highway Patrol and the highway patrol's helicopter team were out Tuesday afternoon searching for two remaining suspects believed to be armed and dangerous.

Morton Sr. Is described as a white male adult, 5'10" with blonde hair and hazel eyes. He is wanted for attempted homicide, burglary, brandishing a firearm, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and pepper spray, as well as charges for hit and run.
