Two arrested following knifepoint robbery at Eureka bus stop
EUREKA- Two people have been arrested following an armed robbery at knifepoint in Eureka.
The robbery took place at the bus stop next to 4th and H Streets early Thursday morning, just before 2. When officers with the Eureka Police Department responded to the scene, the victim reported being robbed at knifepoint by a male and two females. Police identified suspects near 15th and Broadway Streets, and the victim positively identified the suspects during an in-field line up. Twenty-seven-year-old Amanda O’Callaghan and 21-year-old Derrick Asher, both of Eureka, were then arrested for robbery. The other female subject was released after officers determined she was not involved. EPD officials say to follow these tips if you’re out during late night hours.
"We encourage anyone whose out late at night to be aware of their surroundings, be in well-lit areas, wear bright clothing. This is important to prevent any further incidents and to prevent yourself from being a victim," said Brittany Kesterson, the Public Information Officer with the Eureka Police Department.
