Two arrested for possession of a controlled substance in Eureka

EUREKA- Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies find narcotics on two people in Eureka while searching for a felony warrant suspect.

Deputies were searching for 26-year-old Dustin Whitten, who has two felony arrest warrants, on the 1200 block of Vista Drive at about 5 p.m. on Monday. There, they found a red 2002 Volkswagen Jetta parked in front of the home. Police saw the male passenger attempt to conceal something from view. He was identified as 36-year-old eureka resident austin neuroth, who is on felony probation. Twenty-three-year-old Fieldbrook resident Kayla Tidwell was the driver, and both were detained.  A K-9 assisted in the search of the vehicle, and authorities found five grams of suspected methamphetamine, five grams of suspected hash and six sleeping pills that were found in a purse that had Tidwell’s identification in it. Both suspects were charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Authorities did not locate Whitten, who is 5’11”, 160 lbs.., has short brown hair and hazel eyes.  Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at (707) 445-7251, or the tip line at (707) 268-2359.
