Two new suspects caught from last weeks home invasion burglary
Two juveniles have been arrested in connection with a residential burglary of a Eureka couple.
The burglary happened last week. The couple was awakened in the middle of the night to find 3-male adults dressed in dark clothing inside their living room. They chased the three men out of their house. The couple later found out the suspects had stolen money, cameras, an I-pad and I-phone, X-boxes and a safe from their home. Police arrived on the scene a short time later and saw three individuals on bicycles matching the description of the robbery suspects. After chasing them into Sequoia Park, officers were able to arrest 20 year-old Tyrell Melody. The two other suspects excaped.
Now those two suspects have been taken into custody. Officers uncovered evidence that the two other men were not men but juveniles and had gone to the Harris St. Safeway with Melody before the alleged burglary. After reviewing store video and with the help of police and local school officials, detectives located two juvenile males, age 14 and 16. After being interviewed, both juveniles admitted to being involved in the burglary with Medley.
One of the juveniles was already on probation and had been placed on a home monitor which he allegedly had removed. He is being charged with burglary and issued an arrest warrant for probation violation. The other juvenile was released to the custody of parents. Burglary charges are also being sought against him through the Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office.
