Two people stabbed in Eureka

EUREKA- A stabbing took place in Eureka early Friday morning, sending two people to Saint Joseph Hospital.

Just after 5 a.m., officers with the Eureka Police Department responded to an apartment on the 2900 block of California Street following a report of a possible stabbing. Officers found a man and woman outside the building, both of whom had stab wounds. The male victim is 36-year-old Eureka resident Thomas Frank, and the female victim is 28-year-old Ruth Wortman, who is from Fortuna. EPD officials are investigating whether or not this incident was gang motivated.

"This is an active investigation.  There are no suspects at this time.  Anyone with information can call the Eureka Police Department and ask for Detective Harpham.  It's really important that the community comes forward so that we can find out as much as possible and solve this case," said Brittany Kesterson, the Public Information Officer with the Eureka Police Department.
