UPDATE: One arrested for DUI in major injury crash on SR-36
UPDATE: Multiple people have been hospitalized after a DUI driver crashed into their vehicle on SR-36. The accident was reported around 11 a.m. near the Little Golden Gate Bridge. According to the California Highway Patrol, a woman from Rio Dell was driving her pick-up truck in the westbound lane near Bridgeville. At the same time, a Subaru was driving eastbound, when the pick-up truck crossed over the yellow line into the Subaru’s lane.
The driver of the Subaru, a female from Mad River has been flown out of the area for major injuries. Her male passenger was taken to an area hospital for major injuries as well.
The driver of the pick-up truck suffered lacerations to her face, and has since been arrested for driving under the influence.
The California Highway Patrol is at the scene of a major injury two-car crash on SR-36. According to the CHP, one of the occupants was trapped inside one of the vehicles.
It was a Caltrans worker who reported the crash around 11 a.m. Friday near Little Golden Gate Bridge. One lane of SR-36 is closed; one-way traffic control is in affect.
Police say they are unsure if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision. Details are limited at this time. We will have more updates as they become available.
