Victim identified in fatal collision on Highway 101
ARCATA-Mitchell Eldon Ford of Eureka has been identified as the victim in a deadly car accident Saturday morning in Arcata. The 30-year-old Ford was traveling southbound on Highway 101 south of Samoa Boulevard when he lost control of his vehicle and ended up in the northbound lanes.
CHP says he exited the vehicle and that’s when another driver, 30-year-old Crystal Sanders of Fortuna collided with him and the car. He was transported to Mad River Hospital where he died of his injuries.
Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the second collision.
