Victim identified in Friday's motorcycle collision on SR 36
The Humboldt County Coroner’s Office has identified the motorcyclist who died in a head-on crash with a truck on Highway 36 as 71-year-old William Alden Shockley of Bridgeville.
It happened just before two o’clock Friday afternoon just east of Bridgeville about 20 miles from the Highway 101 interchange. Officers say Shockley was driving a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Investigators say he was going through a right curve headed eastbound, when he laid his bike down, crossed over double yellow lines, and was hit by an oncoming FordF150pickup.
The driver of the pickup truck, 23-year-old Hayley Depute was wearing her seatbelt and suffered minor injuries. Shockley was wearing a helmet, but died on scene.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
