California Highway Patrol officers have identified the victim of a fatal crash.
It happened on Highway 36 around 8:30 Sunday morning near milepost 10.7. Officers say the victim is 27-year-old Elsa Sunah Kim, originally of Alamo, California, but she had recently resided in the Eureka area.
Officers say she was headed west on 36 when for unknown reasons she failed to get through a curve in the roadway, crossed over double yellow lines and hit a tree. Officers say she was wearing a seatbelt at the time, but that she died of blunt force trauma.
Officers add that DUI is not believed to be a factor.
