Victims names released in fatal car accident on Highway 101, driver arrested for DUI
ARCATA- The names in Tuesday’s fatal car accident on Highway 101 near State Route 299 have been released.
The Coroner’s Office confirms 55-year-old McKinleyville resident Stacy Kejar and 59-year-old Karen Brennan of Eureka died as a result of that crash. The driver, 57-year-old William Larry Morris of Fortuna, faces felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter charges. Police say Morris was driving Kejar’s silver Hyundai Accent southbound on Highway 101, south of State Route 299, when he went off the road and crashed into a tree. He was wearing his seatbelt and sustained minor injuries. The two victims were not restrained.
"Had these two occupants been wearing their seatbelts, we don't know what the outcome would have been, but it's guaranteed that their chance of survival would have been much greater," said Officer Matt Harvey with the California Highway Patrol.
