Warrant Arrest: Attempted Murder suspect arrested in Garberville
From the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office:
On 1-12-2014, at approximately 8:15 a.m., a Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Deputy spotted a dark green Toyota Landcruiser driving out of the Humboldt House Inn parking lot in Garberville. The deputy had received briefing information from the United States Marshalls Office and Riverside County Sheriff’s Office that the driver of the vehicle, William Oliver Sumpter Jr., 28 years old from Myers Flat, was wanted for attempted murder. The deputy stopped the Landcruiser on Locust Street, near Maple Lane, Garberville. The California Highway Patrol responded and assisted with the traffic stop. The deputy confirmed the driver was Sumpter and arrested him without incident on the outstanding felony arrest warrant which was for attempted murder and intimidation of a witness. The bail issued on the warrant was for one million dollars. Sumpter was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he is being held awaiting transport to Riverside County.
