Weott water crisis resolved, local state of emergency lifted
WEOTT- The ongoing water crisis in a small southern Humboldt town is finally fixed, after being declared in a local state of emergency for seven months. In Weott the emergency was declared last August when deputies said that nearly 20 thousand gallons of water was stolen from one of their two water tanks.
In an effort to refill the tank a water line broke…forcing the town to conserve most of their water. The department of public health approved a $250,000 grant to help replace a component of the system, but it was not until recently that the work had been completed.
The state of emergency was extended twice for the community of Weott, forcing them to conserve water for months and on only a single tank.
