Wildfire burning near Hoopa, Highway 96 closed
HOOPA- According to Peggi Lawrence, Public Information Office for Six Rivers National Forrest, the Sugar Bowl fire has burned between 25 to 30 acres since its start at around 4 a.m. Friday morning.
The fire is burning near Highway 96 mile marker 7.47 between Willow Creek and Hoopa. There is a helicopter, six engines, three crews and two water tenders. A request has been made for more resources.
There are no structures threatened. The fire fighters are working in rugged, steep country. Fuels are brushwood, snags, and hardwood.
Highway 96 is closed from mile marker 6.5 to 7.6.
