Many California communities are facing water shortages due to the drought. Cal Fire, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and the California Department of Public Health are helping the city of Willits, in Mendocino County. These state facilities are installing an emergency water pipe. The CDPH Drinking Water Program approved emergency funding of $250,000 to the city of Willits. This water system has been identified as vulnerable to deliver safe drinking water. The funds will be used to help with the purchase and installation of pipe to transfer well water to connect to the city’s distribution system. The funds will go towards a new well pump as well.
