Woman sent to hospital after driving wrong way on US 101
A head-on collision occurred on US 101 on Thursday in the safety corridor. An elderly woman was sent to the hospital after driving the wrong way on US 101 near Arcata.
Just before noon on Thursday, 88-year-old Eureka resident Frances Lambert was driving her car the wrong way down the northbound lanes of US 101, north of Bayside Cutoff. After several vehicles were able to avoid the 2008 Nissan Altima she was driving, Lambert’s car crashed into the left side of a 2000 Hyundai Santa Fe, sending the vehicle into a metal guardrail. Lambert was transported to Saint Joseph Hospital with a complaint of pain injuries. The other driver did not go to the hospital. The California Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the collision, and they say DUI is not a factor.
