Woman stabbed in Arcata Plaza

A woman is in the hospital with potentially life threatening injuries after being stabbed on the Arcata plaza.

An altercation between two Arcata women, just after eleven Tuesday morning, left one with major injuries on the corner of 9th and H street. The suspect in the stabbing fled the scene but witnesses were able to provide descriptions of her to law enforcement. Approximately 30 minutes later the police detained a woman fitting the description and she is being questioned. The weapon was confirmed to be a knife and has been recovered. There are no outstanding persons at this time. The victim is being treated at Mad River Hospital.
