EUREKA- A 26-year-old Eureka man caught with burglary tools allegedly admits to police that he was planning to break into vehicles in the Lundbar Hills neighborhood Friday.
Law enforcement said Jerrad Lafayette was seen by a resident of the neighborhood walking around with a backpack around 4:45 a.m. The resident notified law enforcement, and officers were dispatched to the 4900 block of Lundblade Drive.
Lafayette was detained, and found to be on searchable probation. Inside his backpack officers allegedly found three screwdrivers, bolt cutters, a file kit, a crowbar and other tools.
Officers are unable to determine if he was able to break into any vehicles before he was spotted. He was transported to the Humboldt County Jail.
