"Wrinkle in Time" scenes filmed in North Coast
EUREKA - The Disney movie “A Wrinkle in Time” is coming and the North Coast is featured in some scenes.
Since the early 1900’s our area has been popular with Hollywood. Movies such as E.T. and Return of the Jedi were filmed here.
The latest movie filmed here is based on the popular children’s book by American writer Madeline L'Engle. It stars Oprah Winfrey, Chris Pine, and Reese Witherspoon. The film will be released in March 2018.
The economic impact of movies filmed here can be millions--money spent by movie studios and in film tourism.
“In March 2018, A Wrinkle in Time, the children’s book by Madeline L'Engle, is coming out and so we're really excited about having that movie,” said Cassandra Hesseltine, Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commissioner, "The economic impact is the most important part. Not only did it bring in money during filming but it will bring in money from film tourism, and sometimes that can outweigh the money that is brought in from filming.”
Another movie filmed entirely in the North Coast is Woodshock, starring Kirsten Dunst, will be in theaters this September.
