Youth agency gets $100,000 to support program
EUREKA- An Arcata woman has donated $100,000 to the Youth Service Bureau of Redwood Community Action Agency to help support young adults leaving foster care. The money will help the agency to purchase an apartment complex to provide transitional housing to young adults leaving foster homes.
Arcata resident, Sara Turner, made the donation to the local organization on Tuesday. The apartment complex will house 18 to 22 year olds.
Maura Eastman the Director of Youth Service Bureau said the apartments will give residents a chance to gain adult experience, but still have support from the agency. "This is just designed to support them," said Eastman.
