CRESCENT CITY – A 14-year old Crescent City youth is celebrating after her pig wins Grand Champion at the Del Norte County Fair.

Madison Douglas is an incoming freshman at Del Norte High School. This is only the second year she has shown a pig at the event.

Last year she said she didn’t do very well because she didn’t do the things she needed to for the pig to get in great shape and be good enough to impress the judges. This year…? No problem at all.

She added: “And since I got grand champion, my pig will be the first to auction off and when I auction it, I get the money and then it goes to the butcher…and I’m saving up for my first car!”
