EUREKA – Newly appointed Interim Chief of Police, Steve Watson has just returned from a jam packed two weeks of specialized executive training.

He attended the Inaugural Police Chiefs Executive Leadership Institute at the prestigious Drucker School of Management at Claremont College in Southern California.

It is a 15-day intensive with graduate level studies in a wide range of topics that included cultural change, trends, economics and a whole host of other topics. Instructors were some of the cutting edge best in their fields. Participants attended classes from 7 am to 5 pm and there were no days off with lots of homework.

Watson said it was an amazing experience he’ll never forget and he learned an incredible amount. He went on to say sometimes the law enforcement world can get insulated and that it was great to hear alternative perspectives in many different areas of thought.

The challenges of course were being away from family for so long and the intense long days of study with not a heck of a lot of down time. But,the experience? Well, nothing short of amazing.
