BLUE LAKE – After almost 2 months of fundraising the Humboldt County Search and Rescue accepted a check for $30,000 for their new snow cat.

We met with Humboldt County Search and Rescue Commander, Bryan Raskin, in July when they launched their fundraiser to raise the last $30,000 they needed for a new snow cat. Raskin said this new snow cat will allow the search and rescue team to do a job they are unable to do with their current broken snow cat. Last year they had 30 snow rescues alone and they had to borrow resources from other rescue teams. Two weeks ago Raskin got the notice that the Blue Lake Rancheria wanted to donate the missing $30,000

The search and rescue team will be able to pick up their new snow cat in the next couple days. Raskin says the new snow cat will not only help them have successful rescues but will also keep his team safe while doing so.
