Police arrest man found driving with suspected meth, heroin

EUREKA, FORTUNA, RIO DELL – A wide reaching search warrant turns up meth, heroin and tens of thousands of dollars in cash from suspected drug sales.

The Humboldt County Drug Task Force along with help from detectives of the Eureka Police Department, a District Attorney investigator and a search dog came together Thursday morning.

They served a search warrant to two residences and three vehicles thought to be apart a narcotics distributing scheme.

40-year-old Juan Reyes-Perez was seen driving one of those vehicles on Highway 101 northbound near Humboldt Hill.

He was stopped and found to be traveling with three ounces of suspected methamphetamine and two ounces of suspected heroin.

Reyes-Perez was booked into the Humboldt County Jail.

Later while searching the two residences, one in Rio Dell on the 100 block of 1st avenue and the other in Fortuna on the 2100 block of Riverwalk Drive, investigators found packaging materials, pay and owe sheets, over fifty thousand dollars in cash and other items believed to be a part of the narcotics sales.

This investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement expects more arrests to come out of it.
