Rio Dell bans cannabis sales, restricts cultivation with new ordinance

RIO DELL – Rio Dell has now banned the sale, trading or dispensing of cannabis within their city.

As of their council meeting Tuesday night, city staff adopted the new cannabis ordinance, which also puts tighter restrictions on cultivation, banning outdoor or greenhouse grows.

Indoor cultivation will be limited to detached accessory buildings, no larger than 150ft per parcel, and cannot exceed six plants, which is in line with the state’s Adult Use of Marijuana Act.

They say that no odor should be detectable from the properties boundaries.

An annually renewed permit and on-site inspection compliance will also be required.

When council opened the floor to the public, no comments were made and the ordinance was adopted by a 4 to 0 vote.
