Eureka woman arrested after pulling knife on police

EUREKA – Eureka Police arrest a woman who assaulted another with a stick and then brandished a knife.

Wednesday morning around 9 officers responded to the call near the corner of McMullen Ave and Broadway Street.

When they arrived they found 39 year old, Jennifer May Cooper, from Eureka, after the assault she fled to a nearby trailer. Officers set up a perimeter around the trailer and with the help of mental health staff, were able to begin negotiations with Cooper through an open trailer window.

During negotiations, Cooper brandished a knife but personnel were eventually able to get her to exit the vehicle where she was taken into custody. She was booked into Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism.
