Del Norte supervisors approve county budget, new airport terminal in the works

DEL NORTE – Despite division between Del Norte supervisors’ opinions on county’s new budget, the draft passed today on a 3 to 2 margin.

According to Supervisor Rodger Gitlin, the meeting didn’t produce the fireworks they were expecting.

Supervisor Gitlin and Supervisor Bob Berkowitz voted against the budget and tell us they feel it doesn’t provide enough for tourism through the Klamath Chamber of Commerce, nor enough for code enforcement clean ups, or for fixing non-county maintained roads.

It does, however, prioritize payment of a loan agreement with the Border Coast Regional Airport Authority for a new terminal at the Jack  McNamara field at the Del Norte County Airport.

Staff has already received three proposals from different airlines – a meeting to discuss those options is scheduled for October 5th.
