Local fire stations to assist Santa Rosa fires

ARCATA – As the fires in the Santa Rosa area continue to grow firefighters all across the state are coming together to provide support. Right here in Humboldt County stations are working to see how they can best assist.

The Arcata Fire District says they want to send a least one engine, however they have one engine in the shop right now and are waiting on parts before they are able to send their personnel out. They say they’re hoping to be able to send some crew members out by tomorrow morning to assist the Lake Napa unit, which is requiring primary assistance, they cover Sonoma, Mendocino, and Lake Counties.

Battalion Chief, Kurt Watkins, says it’s common for units across the state to assist each other when needed.
