EUREKA – Finding a job is hard but for convicted felons it is even more difficult and some local inmates got a little assistance on Tuesday.

Finding a secure job is an essential step for inmates to have a successful re-entry back into society, but having a criminal record will significantly reduce your chances of landing that job.

On Tuesday some of the inmates here at Humboldt County correctional facility got to sit down and meet with employers who are open to hiring them upon their release. This program helps inmates create professional connections in the community for them to contact when they’re able to get a job. These employers are hiring for a variety of different jobs and are even flexible to work around probation restrictions.

Edwin Donahue Jr. will be released on November 10th and says he’s looking forward to pursuing a career in construction or mechanics.
