Fortuna police seek BB gun robbery suspect

FORTUNA – Fortuna police are seeking a suspect in an armed robbery that took place just outside of the city’s Safeway.

Allegedly, a man came from behind a woman and brandished what appeared to be a black pistol and demanded property just before midnight on Thursday.

Police say the man then shot at the ground before fleeing the scene in a white sedan, possibly a Prius, with some of the woman’s items.

It was later discovered the weapon was actually a BB gun.

The suspect is described as a black male with a beard, wearing a white hoody and dark pants.
