Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office adds mental health staff to Crisis Negotiation Team

EUREKA, CA. – The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is bringing mental health professionals on to their Crisis Negotiation Team.

Sheriff Honsal has announced three mental health workers will be added to team.

This is not a new concept, as mental health staff has assisted with situations that require negotiators for years, but it was decided these three should become an official part of the core team.

The three workers recently graduated the basic negotiator course and will be used in the field to help negotiate with people struggling with mental health issues.
