City of Eureka seeking proposals for cannabis businesses

EUREKA – More cannabis businesses could be coming to Eureka.
The city is seeking proposals from those interested in operating cannabis retail facilities. Prospective operators will have to meet all safety and security regulations outlined by the cannabis ordinance.
The city manager will appoint a committee made up of staff and non-city employees to evaluate submissions.
Up to two businesses will be selected and the deadline to apply is January 26th.
Development Services Director Rob Holmlund said, “What the city will be looking for in a cannabis retail facility are qualified business owners who know how to comply with California labor law that know how to operate a retail facility no matter what kind it is, people that have experience running a small business. Those are the sorts of qualifications that we’re looking for.”
