Local business recognized for employing diverse workforce

EUREKA – For the second year in a row, a local business has been recognized for its efforts to hire people with disabilities.
Friday afternoon the Northwest Committee for Employment of People with Disabilities presented McDonald’s owner Jesse Klair with a plaque at the 4th Street restaurant, celebrating Klair’s commitment to a diverse work force.
President Charles Bean said the committee aims to educate the community about the contributions of people with disabilities and businesses like Klair’s reinforce that message.
Bean said, “It’s important to recognize a business that takes the time to take a look at the job and what a person can do and make the job fit the person.”
Humboldt County McDonald’s Owner and Operator Jesse Klair added, “Also it provides an opportunity for other businesses to see that we’re doing this to open the door for some of the other kids.”
