Eureka Victorian damaged in fire

EUREKA- A two-story Victorian is damaged after a fire Monday night in Eureka. Humboldt Bay Fire got the call at around 6:40 at a home located on Williams and Long Street.

When crews arrived on scene, flames and smoke were visible from the upstairs window located on the north side of the structure. Fire fighters were able to bring the blaze under control in about 15 minutes.

Storage linen located too close to a metal chimney was the cause of the fire.

Humboldt Bay Fire Duty Chief Bill Reynolds said if not for the quick response, the damage could have been a lot worse.
