CHP conducting maximum enforcement patrols Thanksgiving weekend

ARCATA – CHP will be out in full force to keep the roads safe for holiday travelers.
The maximum enforcement period begins Wednesday night at 6:00 and runs through Sunday at midnight.
CHP says that during the same time last year, twenty-seven people died in collisions on state highways. Fourteen of them or more than half were not wearing a seat belt, so officers will be on the lookout for unrestrained passengers or drivers.
CHP advises that whether you’re driving across the street or across the state, buckle up for safety.
Humboldt Area California Highway Patrol PIO Paul Craft said, “Whatever we can do to make a happier healthier Humboldt county is usually what we’re out there to try and do and it starts with enforcing seat belt law which will help prevent your chance of serious injury or possibly even death on a serious collision.”
