Eureka’s 5th Street closed after fish spills into the roadway

EUREKA- It was a fishy situation in downtown Eureka Tuesday morning.

Just before 7:30, a truck carrying fish waste was traveling northbound on Fifth Street when the driver had to slam on the breaks for a vehicle that pulled out in front of him. This caused the driver to lose some of his load that included fish that spilled all over the roadway.

The intersection of Fifth and M Street was closed for over an hour while Caltrans and Humboldt Bay Fire cleaned up the mess. Eureka police provided traffic control.
