Man suspected of firing a gun while under the influence of meth in Eureka

EUREKA, CA. – A man under the influence of methamphetamine is arrested for discharge of a firearm in Eureka.

Deputies were sent to a mobile home park on the 1200 block of Allard Avenue just after 9AM Tuesday for reports of a gunshot.

There deputies 57-year-old Robert Joseph Murphy, who was found sitting with a shotgun and meth pipes near him.

He admitted to shooting the gun in the air to quote “send a message,” and said he had not slept for several days.

Murphy was arrested for negligent discharge of a firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia.
