Eureka man sentenced to 7 years for illegal hash lab that exploded

EUREKA – A Eureka man who ran an illegal butane hash lab in his house learned his fate Wednesday at the Humboldt County Courthouse.
34-year-old William Edwards Woods III was sentenced to seven years for manufacturing concentrated cannabis and another eight months for unlawful marijuana cultivation.
The first charge resulted from a butane hash oil lab explosion at Woods’ Myrtletown home in January 2017. Woods fled the scene after the explosion while using marijuana processing equipment and left an injured man behind.
Investigators found large amounts of marijuana shake and ten pounds of concentrated cannabis in the home.
Woods was arrested seven months later at an unlawful marijuana grow in Burr Valley.
Fish and Wildlife officers found stream diversions, pollution and litter which led to eight months in jail.
This conviction also means that Woods will spend an additional year in jail for suspended sentences in three old DUI cases.
