Fortuna approves permit fee, police inspections for personal-use cannabis growers

FORTUNA, CA. – Fortuna City Council approves a permit fee for growing personal cannabis in city limits, and will require those growers to add their name to a public list.

Californians can now legally consume recreational cannabis and can grow up to six plants at their residence. Of course, not everyone is going to have had experience working within this industry beforehand, but this is where doing a bit of research comes in handy. One couldget more information here, as there are rules and regulations to follow before opening any form of cannabis-related business, no one can really go into it without at least having a brief understanding of what being in this industry consists of.

In an effort to minimize cannabis in the city, Fortuna council has taken some special actions.

Sales are already prohibited in the city, and as of their latest meeting, those who want to grow in-home will have to pay a $100.00 permit fee, and file a ‘Notice of Cultivation’ with City Hall, allowing for in-home police department compliance checks.

Council was also scheduled to do a performance evaluation for City Manager Mark Wheetley at special meetings Tuesday.

However, he was unable to attend, and those meetings were canceled.
