Eureka father arrested for child endangerment following cooking fire

EUREKA, CA. – A cooking fire results with an arrest in Eureka.

Humboldt Bay Fire responded to a structure fire just before 7PM Sunday at a residence on the 3300 block of Park Street.

Smoke was coming from the Myrtletown home, where a father and two children were believed to be trapped inside.

A neighbor heard the smoke alarm and gained access to the home.

He rescued all three and removed the flaming pan to the backyard.

The two children were placed into protective custody and the father was arrested for child endangerment.
