Former News Channel 3 Weatherman passes away

EUREKA- It’s a sad day for the North Coast and weather fans as former News Channel 3 meteorologist Jim Bernard died Tuesday morning at his Westhaven home.

Bernard started his on-air career in Eureka at KVIQ and later moved over to KIEM where he retired in 2012 after 25 years on-air.

Bernard also worked for Bay Area television stations, KPIX and KRON.

He was also an air traffic controller at the Arcata-Eureka Airport and later was the director at the Del Norte County Regional Airport in Crescent City.

Bernard is survived by wife Chris and son Jeff and daughter Lacey.

He was 64 years-old.
