Yurok Tribe asks Trinidad to table its pledge of cooperation

TRINIDAD – Trinidad City Council tabled a resolution pledging cooperation with the Yurok Tribe at the request of the tribe.
According to City Manager Dan Berman, tribal officials reached out to the city before Wednesday’s meeting started to ask that the resolution be delayed to allow more time to work on the language. No specific changes were mentioned.
In its current form, the resolution commits the Trinidad to working hand-in-hand with the Yurok Tribe and its people to encourage greater community health and spirit. It also stated the importance of protecting the Tsurai Village site.
The matter will be discussed at a future meeting.
And good news for dog owners who walk the Trinidad Head. Council directed staff to amend its ordinance to allow leashed dogs on the trail. Council said that will bring the policy in line with the rest of the city.
