Becoming a Fire Fighter: Cal Fire and Mendocino Community College to offer courses

Fortuna, Ca., (KIEM)- For the first time in a long time, those interested in becoming Cal Fire fire fighters can attend classes locally on the North Coast. That’s according to battalion chief Laura Coleman.

It’s a collaboration with Mendocino  College. Registration is open now for classes that start in March in Weott. The coarse offers basic entry-level wild land firefighter training for anyone who hopes to take up a career in state, federal or local fire fighting. The deadline to enroll for potential students who wish to receive financial aid is February Second.
