Hollywood comes to the North Coast: Sandra Bullock filming in Crescent City

CRESCENT CITY – Academy Award winning actress Sandra Bullock is on the North Coast filming a movie for Netflix.
The sci-fi thriller called ‘Bird Box’ is based on a novel by Josh Malerman. It will be filmed in parts of Del Norte County including on a temporary sound stage at the Crescent City Cultural Center which means parts of Front Street will close when crews are working there.
According to IMDB, Bullock’s character leads a pair of children through a post apocalyptic river setting while blindfolded and being followed by an unknown menace. John Malkovich, Sarah Paulson and Lil Rel Howery round out the cast of the film which is expected to release in December.
Humboldt Del Norte Film Commissioner Cassandra Hesseltine said she can’t comment on the film. She added all productions that come to the North Coast ask for privacy as they go about their work.
