Eureka Police arrest man on vehicle burglary charges

EUREKA- A man suspected in a rash of downtown vehicle burglaries is off the streets.

 

Eureka Police answered a call about a man casing cars and carrying bolt cutters on J-street just after 11 Sunday morning.

Once there, they found 20-year old Austin Porter — who’s on probation for burglary and falsifying his identity.

Officers searched him and found burglary tools and heroin.

 

One officer says there had been several reports of car break-ins in the last 24 hours and porter was seen on a surveillance camera at the scene of one.

 

Porter is in the Humboldt County Jail, charged with vehicle burglary,  possession of burglary tools, possession of heroin and probation violation.
