EUREKA- A man suspected in a rash of downtown vehicle burglaries is off the streets.
Eureka Police answered a call about a man casing cars and carrying bolt cutters on J-street just after 11 Sunday morning.
Once there, they found 20-year old Austin Porter — who’s on probation for burglary and falsifying his identity.
Officers searched him and found burglary tools and heroin.
One officer says there had been several reports of car break-ins in the last 24 hours and porter was seen on a surveillance camera at the scene of one.
Porter is in the Humboldt County Jail, charged with vehicle burglary, possession of burglary tools, possession of heroin and probation violation.
